Celebrating Academic, Sport And Character Excellence

e-Awards Presentation Ceremony

It was a celebratory and inspiring end to the school year on 12 November 2020 when 79 secondary and post-secondary student-athletes received awards for excellence in academics, sports and character. The Top in Level Award, Character Award, Post-Secondary (Polytechnic) Academic Awards, and Singapore Schools Sports Council Best Sportsboy and Best Sportsgirl Awards were given out during the school’s first e-Awards Presentation Ceremony. A total of 88 award certificates were presented by mentors to student-athletes.

Secondary 4 student-athlete Sabrina Lee Jingyi from the Badminton Academy was one of the awardees who received the Top in Level Award for her academic excellence. The Class of 2020 valedictorian and student leader said, “After a month of circuit breaker, it was difficult adjusting back to a rigorous schedule balancing training, studies, and leadership commitments. With the support of understanding staff, I was able to manage my time better, and given a one-week study break before exams. This was especially helpful in consolidating my notes and focusing more on content-heavy subjects. I am glad that we managed to pull through. I am honoured to receive the Award, and I am also grateful as it would not have been possible without the support and guidance from teachers and my mentor.”

Secondary 3 fencer Cheung Kemei, who received both the Top in Level and Character Award, also had to overcome challenges posed the circuit breaker. She shared “I think this year has been slightly more challenging for me, especially during the Home-Based Learning and Training (HBLT) period. It was also quite difficult to get back to the normal training schedule and school days after the HBLT. But with all the support from all the teachers, coaches, parents. and everyone around me, I managed to adjust quickly. I'm very happy and grateful to receive the awards. I'm also very thankful to everyone around me who supported and encouraged me throughout the year. Without them, these achievements would not have been possible.”

The ceremony culminated with a closing address by Principal Ong Kim Soon to mark the end of the school term.

Congratulations, Champions!
