National Day Celebration 2019

On 8 August, Singapore Sports School student-athletes and staff gathered at The Arena decked out in red to celebrate the nation’s 54th birthday and Bicentennial year.

A few weeks leading up to the celebration, the Humanities Department had put up educational posters on Singapore history at various locations within the school. On 8 August, student-athletes and staff put their knowledge of Singapore history to the test as they competed in teams in the Great Bicentennial Quiz. Needless to say, those who had paid attention in class or read the posters walked away with prizes. The celebration continued with community singing and musical items. The highlight of the celebration was Principal Mr Tan Teck Hock leading the school in the cake-cutting ceremony, national anthem and pledge-taking. National Education (NE) continues after that, as the student-athletes embarked on NE Learning Journey to various locations such as Chinatown, Kampong Glam, Little India and National Museum of Singapore.
