Have you ever thought about how much a single post or link can harm someone’s well-being? From highlighting the consequences of cyberbullying to hosting games on using the internet safely, our Cyber Wellness Champions have generated awareness among their peers on how important it is to navigate the digital world responsibly and securely. As Term 1 wraps up, let’s take a look at some of the initiatives we’ve led!

Secondary One Chromebook Pledge

The Secondary One student-athletes recently received their Personal Learning Devices (PLDs), marking an important milestone in their digital journey. Since this is their first time owning a school-issued Chromebook, we emphasised the importance of staying committed to maintaining a secure learning environment for everyone online.

Anti-Bullying Week

As part of our efforts to promote a positive online culture, we also kicked off Anti-bullying Week with an assembly session on fostering a kind and safe digital space. We educated student-athletes on proper digital mannerisms, the risks of anonymity on online platforms, and the importance of mindful communication. Beyond just raising awareness, we aimed to spark reflection on how our online actions can affect others. This initiative thus highlighted how our school value of respect extends beyond the classroom, into the digital world.

Safer Internet Day

To reinforce awareness of how digital safety cannot be taken for granted, we brought Safer Internet Day to life with a series of interactive games where student-athletes raced against time to “save Sports School” from cyber-security threats during assembly. By simulating a breach in the school’s network, student-athletes put their cyber-safety knowledge to test - creating safe and strong passwords, spotting suspicious websites, and guarding against online predators. Cyber Wellness Champion Kayla Por from Secondary 4 shared, “It was an extremely rewarding experience educating my peers about safer internet practices in an interactive way! We hope this programme has left a deep impression on student-athletes about the importance of cyber wellness.”

We are honoured to take up this important role of promoting and empowering student-athletes with good digital habits, and we urge everyone to be proactive in this mission - because cyber wellness starts with each of us.
