Values In Action: Blood Donation Drive, Bowling Academy Sports Education and Experience Programme, Volunteering Experience at Singapore Swimming Proficiency Awards

When the opportunity arose to give back to the community, our International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), Bowling, and Swimming Academy student-athletes didn’t hesitate. They stepped up and turned compassion into action, leading meaningful Values in Action initiatives that made a real impact.

A Student-Led Blood Donation Drive

When news reports surfaced about Singapore’s critically low O Blood stocks and the urgent need for youth donors to support an aging population, five IBDP student-athletes, Ethan Chang, Josiah Wei, Reyes Loh, Rafael Pedro Ortega, and Tara Alayna Weilin Muhammad Khalid, sprang into action. As part of their Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS) project, they collaborated with the Singapore Red Cross to organise a Blood Donation Drive at Sports School on 14 February 2025. Their initiative, held on Valentine’s Day, symbolised the ultimate act of care by giving the gift of life.

Bowlers Engaged Young Learners from Woodlands Primary School

The Bowling Centre buzzed with excitement on 21 February 2025 as students from Woodlands Primary School arrived for a fun-filled bowling session with our student-athletes. Part of the NorthWest Community Development Council’s VIA Sports Education and Experience Programme, the initiative aimed to introduce the sport of bowling to primary school students. Over two engaging hours, our bowlers mentored, coached, and inspired the young participants, ensuring they left with newfound skills and unforgettable memories.

Swimmers Lend a Hand at the Singapore Swimming Proficiency Awards

From 22 to 23 February 2025, a group of 12 swimmers took time off from their weekend to volunteer at the Singapore Swimming Proficiency Awards, held at Sports School. Organised by Singapore Aquatics, the event saw our student-athletes stepping into the role of enthusiastic hosts, event ushers, announcers, report station ushers and results ushers during the event. They also interacted with participants, answered queries and worked with the organiser to ensure a smooth experience for all. Their dedication showcased not just their skills in the pool, but also their commitment to uplifting the swimming community.
