Double For Ang Brothers

2019 Singapore National Swimming Championships (Short Course Metres)

Brothers Maximillian Ang Wei and Mitchell Ang Li decorated themselves with two medals apiece at the 8th Singapore National Swimming Championships (Short Course Metres) from 16 to 17 November 2019.

Maximillian, the elder of the two, had a good start to the meet, rewriting the National Record in the Men’s 200m Breaststroke short course event with 2:10.39s, en route to clinching the gold medal. His stellar effort eclipsed the previous record of 2:11.80s set by Lionel Khoo in 2016. The Singapore Sports School DSLM Year 2 swimmer also holds the long course National Record in the same event.

The breaststroke specialist kept the form to win a second gold medal of the meet the following day, this time in the 100m Breaststroke. He clocked 1:00.21s for another Personal Best time.

Secondary 4’s Mitchell pulled out strong swims to secure two podium finishes in the two-day meet. He first collected a silver medal in the Men’s 100m Individual Medley (58.76s) and then the bronze in the 200m Freestyle (1:51.28s).

Jerald Lium, Secondary 2, was Sports School’s third medallist, collecting the Men’s 200m Individual Medley bronze. He completed the race in 2:09.07s.

All five medals were won in Personal Best times.
