Danial And Co Top 5 In DIBC
2019 DIBC Open Bowling Tournament
Muhammad Danial Zheng Yi Abdul Nasir found himself moving further away from the number one spot after four games in the Men’s Masters Finals of the 7th Dubai International Bowling Centre (DIBC) Open Bowling Tournament. He had started in 4th after Game 1 and slowly slipped three notches in the next three games. His four-game cumulative score of 889 pinfalls placed him 7th. However, things took a turn in the four remaining games.
A high score of 279 pinfalls in Game 5 rocketed Danial to the top, while the next game of 257 pinfalls extended his lead in the competition. He eventually lifted the trophy with a total of 1,855 pinfalls, 25 pinfalls ahead of fellow Singapore Sports School alumnus Timothy Theodore Tham Fu Rong. Singapore’s male bowlers occupied the top five spots in the final ranking; among them were four Sports School present and past bowlers – Joel Tan Eng An in fourth, and Muhammad Jaris Goh Ali Akbar Goh in fifth.
This is the second consecutive year that at least one Singaporean has finished top three in the Dubai tournament. Jaris had finished Runner-Up in the 2018 edition.
