Golfers Add Competition Experience
Australian Junior Amateur, National Ranking Game, 2022 FGA Women’s Championship
At the Australian Junior Amateur from 2 to 9 April 2022, Jaymie Ng (IBDP, Year 5) started well to tie for 7th after day 1, eventually finishing with a 13 overpar of 305, finishing tied 11th in a field of more than 80 international golfers. Jaymie was consistent with her rounds of 74, 75, 79 and 77. Chen Xingtong (Secondary 2) could not maintain consistency shown in her good round-2 score of 77 strokes. She missed the cut after 3 rounds, bowing out with a 25 overpar score of 244 strokes.
Later in the month, from 20 to 22 April 2022, Nathen Tan En Quan (Diploma in Business Studies, Year 3), Aidil Nor Amani Norazman (Diploma in Business, Year 3), Chen Xingtong (Secondary 2), Justin Kuk Zheng Zhong (extended Diploma in Sports and Leisure Management) and alumna Inez Ng Xin Yi competed in the first National Ranking Game held at Laguna National Golf Resort Club. While Nathen and Aidil had to withdraw due to injuries, Justin, Inez and Xingtong were placed 4th, 5th and 8th respectively.
Also, past student-athlete Amanda Tan, took the title in the 2022 FGA Women’s Championship to pick up her first victory in the United States. This is yet another feather in her cap after being the first woman to win the FTAG Singapore Pro Series in August 2021.
