Winning is Right Up Their Alley
‘B’ Division National School Games Bowling Championship 2022
As the competition heated up during the National School Games Bowling Championship 2022, our Singapore Sports School ‘B’ Division bowlers maintained their composure and kept cool heads as they let their striking do the talking at the alleys. Their intense focus and precise strikes resulted in Sports School being crowned Overall Champions for both ‘B’ Division Boys and Girls!
Ryan Goi Chee Hean (Secondary 4) led the charge for the boys as he bagged a total of 1,346 pinfalls and securing the gold medal in the individual event, beating the runner-up by a close 2 pinfalls. Ryan also teamed up with Joshua Gaza Soo Chak Kuen (Secondary 4), Mark Leong Yew Chen (Secondary 3), Brian Ngoi Kai Ren (Secondary 3) in the team event and the quartet struck a total of 5,167 pinfalls to clinch the gold medal in that category.
After tallying up the scores from all events, Ryan Goi was awarded the bronze medal after finishing third in the boy’s category.
In the girl’s category, our bowlers out-shined the competition by finishing in the top tier for all the events. Lim Shi En (Secondary 4) emerged top in the singles event with 1,291 pinfalls while Nur Irdina Hazly (Secondary 3) finished third in the same category with 1,270 pinfalls.
The doubles event sweetened the experience as our bowlers swept the top three spots! Aces Lim Shi En and Ashley Victoria Lok (Secondary 4) finished in first place with a combined team pinfall of 2,427. Emerging second are Felicia Leong Yong Mei and Anna Fong Bao Yi (both Secondary 4) with 2,390 pinfalls; and in third place are Hazel Tan Wei Ning and Nur Irdina Hazly (both Secondary 3) with a total 2,372 pinfalls.
Adding more gloss to their medal haul, quartet Shi En, Hazel Tan, Nur Irdina and Ashley Victoria won the gold medal in the team event, finishing top of the event with a combined score of 4,981 pinfalls. Ashley Victoria, Nur Irdina and Shi En then wrapped the competition with a sweet 1-2-3 finish respectively after tabulating the scores from all events.
With such splendid results, Sports School was crowned Overall Champions for the ‘B’ Division Boys and Girls. This victory was well-deserved for our bowlers who have put in countless hours of practice and rose up to the challenge on competition day. Bravo bowlers!
