April was a bustling month for both our past and present paddlers, as they left their mark on the WTT Youth Contender and WTT Feeder series taking place in Europe. Kicking off their campaign at the first Europe stop in WTT Feeder Varazdin 2024, Koen Pang Yew En, who recently rejoined the school’s Diploma in Business Studies, teamed up with alumna Wong Xin Ru to compete in the Mixed Doubles event. The duo battled their way to secure a spot in the finals, ultimately settling for a silver medal after a fiercely contested match against Swedish opponents.

Building on their success, the mixed doubles pair, along with Izaac Quek Yong and Zhou Jingyi, progressed to the WTT Feeder Düsseldorf 2024, where both Mixed Doubles teams smoothly advanced to the semi-finals to face their Korean counterparts. Despite putting up a valiant fight, Koen and Xin Ru settled for a joint-bronze medal, while Izaac and Jingyi claimed the top spot in the finals, securing their first-ever WTT Feeder Mixed Doubles title due to the withdrawal of their Korean opponents.

Continuing their momentum, Koen and Xin Ru replicated their success at the WTT Feeder Havirov 2024, the final stop of the WTT Feeder series. Going up against yet another Korean pair, Koen and Xin Ru showcased their best efforts, ultimately securing a silver medal in the finals.

Meanwhile, at the WTT Youth Contender Luxembourg 2024, Ser Lin Qian (alongside partner Wassim Essid) secured joint-3rd place in the U19 Mixed Doubles event.

Additionally, Secondary 2 student-athletes Janelle Chiang Rui En and Loy Ming Ying also shone at the WTT Youth Contender Metz 2024 and WTT Youth Contender Spa 2024, which ran simultaneously from 22 to 28 April 2024. Following a fierce competition against their opponents, Janelle claimed joint-3rd place in the U15 Girls’ Singles, while Ming Ying secured 2nd place in the same category.
