Paddlers Swept Medals At Hong Kong Junior & Cadet Open
2019 Hong Kong Junior & Cadet Open
It was another six medals from the Singapore Sports School Table Tennis Academy. Student-athletes, Koen Pang Yew En (Secondary 4), Izaac Quek Yong (Secondary 1) and Zhou Jingyi (Secondary 2), began their campaign in the 5-day competition since 7 August, with Koen securing two bronzes in the Junior Boy’s Team and Doubles, and a silver in the Junior Boys’ Single event.
At the Cadet events, Izaac clinched a bronze medal while Jingyi clinched two bronze medals. Izaac settled for a bronze in the Cadet Boys' Singles after a strong fight with Taiwan opponent. Jingyi had cruised to victory before meeting strong opponent from Japan and settled for a bronze in the Cadet Girls' Single semi-final. In the Cadet Doubles event, Jingyi, together with partner Chan Lu Wen, competed against India opponents and settled for a bronze after losing to India with a score of 0-3.
