Sports School Brought Home 11 Medals From 11th Asean Schools Games

11th ASEAN Schools Games

The 170-strong Singapore Schools contingent returned from the 4-day 11th ASEAN Schools Games in Semarang, Indonesia on 22 July with 38 medals. Twenty-one Singapore Sports School student-athletes, who were part of the contingent, contributed to more than a quarter of the medal tally in all four sports they participated in - Badminton, Swimming, Table Tennis, and Track and Field.

Singapore Sports School paddlers were the biggest gold medal winners, contributing to half of the 10 gold medals won by the Singapore Schools contingent. The gold medallists were paddlers Ser Lin Qian, Zhou Jingyi and Liu Sijia, who contributed to the girls' team gold, Izaac Quek Yong who contributed to the boys’ team gold and single gold, as well as mixed doubles duo, Izaac and Lin Qian, and girls’ doubles pair, Jingyi and Lin Qian. Sijia and Jingyi had also clinched a silver and bronze respectively in the mixed doubles and girls’ single events.

At the pool, Dora Kwok Sin Yu was part of the 4-member team that clinched the bronze medal for the Girls 4x100 Freestyle Relay, and Vanessa Ong did us proud by contributing to a silver medal in the 4x100 Medley Relay.

The last two bronze medals came from Badminton and Track and Field, by shuttlers, Ung Yi Xing and Donovan Willard Wee in the mixed doubles event, and Andrew George Medina in the Boys’ Triple Jump event.
