Exploring The World Of Skills And Careers
Education and Career Guidance Fair at 13th WorldSkills ASEAN Competition
Our student-athletes had an enriching afternoon when they attended the Education and Career Guidance (ECG) fair held in conjunction with the 13th WorldSkills ASEAN Competition. It is the first time that Singapore is hosting the ASEAN edition of the WorldSkills competition. The competition and the ECG Fair aimed to promote skills excellence and raise skills standards among youths, as well as showcase opportunities in vocational training and education in the region.
Student-athletes visited Suntec City Exhibition Hall where the ECG fair was held to provide youths with education, skills, and career guidance. There were interesting booths, interactive activities, try-a-skill stations, and hands-on workshops by over 70 industry partners to give student-athletes first-hand knowledge about different industries. From exploring opportunities and career paths in different industries to trying out hands-on activities and workshops, interacting with professionals, and watching competitors in action, student-athletes gained valuable insights about various careers and sectors.
Secondary 2 taekwondo exponent Gwen Koh shared, “I learnt that I am interested in creative arts, and I had fun learning and trying new skills.” Tracker Jennica Chan from Secondary 3 also shared positive feedback on her learning experience: “I found more about the many job roles available and gained more knowledge from this experience.”
