Fencing: Asian Cadet Cup

Sarah Koh Ya Qi, a Secondary 3 fencer, delivered a remarkable performance by securing the gold medal in the Women's Sabre event at the Asian Cadet Cup, held from 9 to 11 August 2024. Her victory was especially poignant as it coincided with National Day, adding to the pride and joy of the celebration. Sarah's journey in fencing began during the Singapore Sports School’s Primary 6 Fencing Clinic held over Zoom in 2021. Since then, she has demonstrated outstanding progress and commitment to the sport.

Benjamin Lee Shijie, a Secondary 4 fencer, also showcased his talent and determination by winning a bronze medal in the Men's Epee event.

Golf: CWJPGA Junior Golf Challenge, Sabah Amateur Open, Singapore National Amateur Championship

Golfer Denise Ng has achieved a significant milestone by winning the title at the CWJPGA Junior Golf Challenge in Desaru, Malaysia, from 8 to 11 August 2024. This victory highlights Denise’s exceptional skill and dedication to the sport.

Before this impressive win, Denise competed in the Singapore National Amateur Championship, where she secured 3rd place. Her junior, Chloe Ng, also performed admirably, finishing in 4th place.

Additionally, Secondary 1 golfer Anjanette Tan impressed by clinching 3rd place at the Sabah Amateur Open, further demonstrating the emerging talent in golf.

Ice Skating: 2024 Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy

Speed skater Loh Geok Qin finished in 3rd place in the 1000m event at the 2024 Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy from 22 to 23 August 2024 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Geok Qin clocked in at 1:49.040, coming in behind competitors from Chinese Taipei and Indonesia. The competition attracted 166 skaters from 12 countries. Team Singapore fielded 5 skaters, who brought home 3 bronze medals.

Sport Climbing: SEA Boulder League 2024

Sport climber Janelle Phua claimed the top spot at the SEA Boulder League 2024, with competitors from Jordan and the USA following her lead.

Taekwondo: Singapore Open Poomsae Championships 2024

Taekwondo exponent Gwen Koh shone at the inaugural Singapore Open Poomsae Championships 2024 on 10 August 2024 at Our Tampines Hub. Gwen emerged victorious, coming in 1st out of 25 participants in a tough competition that saw her advance through several rounds to reach the finals.

The competition is based on a cut-off system of 16 participants, followed by a knock-out system where participants have to challenge each other one-on-one for a place in the Round of 16 and 8. The final four participants will then compete for podium standing.

Water Polo: Panasonic Asia Pacific Water Polo Tournament

Charlene Tio and Loh Yu Xuan were part of the Singapore team that won gold at the Panasonic Asia Pacific Water Polo Tournament in Hong Kong from 8 to 11 August 2024. Team Singapore were undefeated throughout the tournament, winning games against teams from West Java, Hong Kong, and Haikou University and Yingguang Swimming Club. The team defeated Hong Kong 17-4 in the final match to become the champions of the tournament.
