Trackers Finish The Season Strong

15th Southeast Asian Youth Athletics, Kluang Open, SAECA BJSS Athletics Championships 2023


At the 15th Southeast Asian Youth Athletics Championships held in Thailand, our Track and Field Academy student-athletes showcased their prowess over the course of a thrilling three-day competition from 7 to 9 December 2023. In a triumphant display, our talented student-athletes seized a commendable haul of 6 medals – a noteworthy silver and 5 well-deserved bronze accolades.

Notably, Audrey Koh Shun Yi and Laavinia Jaiganth etched their names in the records, contributing to the Mixed 4x400m Relay team's stellar performance that shattered both the Under-18 and Under-20 National Records. Their outstanding effort secured a bronze medal in the final, with a superb time of 3:37.67s.

Huang Weijun also left an indelible mark, exhibiting exceptional strength in the Boys’ 4x400m Relay team. His stellar contribution not only clinched a silver medal but also established a new Under-18 National Record.


The momentum continued at the Kluang Open 2023 in Malaysia on 9 December 2023 where our trackers dazzled once again. The 4x400m team, comprising Emir Muhammad Rashid, Marc Elessa David, Jamie El-Redha Ang Norhisham, and Raam Kumar Muthukumaran surged to victory. Raam and Jamie further solidified their individual prowess, securing gold in the 400m event and bronze in the 100m event respectively.

Raam and Jamie continued their fine form at the SAECA BJSS Athletics Championship 2023 held in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, from 19 to 20 December 2023. Jamie won a bronze medal in the 200m event after touching the finish line in 22.32s. He also commendably reached the finals of the 100m event, where he competed against Malaysian national and state runners. Raam Kumar contributed to his team’s silver medal win in the 4x400m relay event.

The excellent performances of our athletes underscore the Track and Field Academy's commitment to excellence and herald a promising future in athletics.
