At the MetaSprint series (Duathlon) held on 19 February 2023, Year 6 IBDP triathlete Janel Suastra completed the race in 2nd place in the 16-19 years old category. Third-year Diploma in Business Studies student-athlete Sean Patrick also did well in the 20-24 years old category as he was the 3rd to touch the finish line. The race consisted of a 3km run, a 20km bike ride, followed by another 3km run.
“Though duathlon is not my main event as I come from a swimming background, I managed to put in my best effort to clinch 2nd place in my category, narrowly missing first place by 18s. This event is a good stepping stone towards a bigger event in Hong Kong next week and puts me in a great headspace for the coming event,” shared Janel on her second-place finish.
Janel and Sean also participated in the 2023 Asia Triathlon Cup in Hong Kong on 25 February 2023, where they gained good experience competing against international triathletes.
