The Singapore Table Tennis Association recognised the achievements of our table tennis players at the STTA Annual Awards Ceremony. 3 of our past and present student-athletes were among the outstanding list of winners and received their awards from STTA President and Member of Parliament of Sembawang GRC, Ms Poh Li San.

Alumnus Clarence Chew Zhe Yu received the Special Award. At the 31st SEA Games, Clarence won 1 Gold in the Doubles, 1 Silver in the Mixed Doubles, and 2 Bronze medals in the Singles and Team events. He continued his outstanding performance at the SEA Table Tennis Championships when he won 3 Gold medals in the Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Team events. He ended 2022 with 1 Silver in the Team event and 2 Bronze medals in the Mixed and Doubles at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

Alumna Zhou Jing Yi was named STTA Youth Player of the Year 2022. The award recognises the excellence and achievements of an outstanding youth player. Zhou Jingyi made her debut at the 2022 Hanoi SEA Games and Birmingham Commonwealth Games. She won 1 Gold medal in the Team event at the Commonwealth Games and 2 Silver medals in the Team and Doubles event at the SEA Games.

At the Chengdu World Table Tennis Championships, Jingyi was instrumental in the women’s team and contributed with a memorable comeback 3-2 win over Luxembourg's Ni Xialian to help the team to finish top in the group stage round. She also ranked 8th in the U19 world ranking in March 2022, making it her best record yet.

Rising star and Secondary 1 student-athlete Loy Ming Ying received the STTA Hopes Player of the Year 2022. The Award is the nation's highest accolade for young paddlers aged 13 years old and below. At just 12 years old, Loy Ming Ying made her debut at the 2022 SEA Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championships. She finished the tournament with the U15 Girls’ team Gold, U15 Girls’ Singles Silver and U15 Girls’ Doubles Bronze. She achieved her highest U13 world ranking in 35th position in May 2022.

We rejoice with our paddlers on their achievements and are excited for the bright future for Singapore’s table tennis team!
