Chinese New Year Celebrations
For two years, student-athletes and staff have had virtual celebrations to celebrate the Chinese New Year. After experiencing muted celebrations in school and at home, the Sports School family looked forward to the physical Chinese New Year Celebration at the Auditorium on 20 January 2023. The celebration, which kick-started the festive weekend did not disappoint with its high-energy lion and dragon dance performances, informative sharing session, and positive festive greetings between friends and staff.

6 student-athletes from the Multi-Sport Academy, 8 student-athletes from the Track and Field Academy, and one student-athlete from the Netball and Swimming Academies, came together to train and put up lion dance and dragon dance performances that kick-started the programme.
Student-athletes from the audience had a chance to try doing a dragon dance performance on stage!
Two student leaders – Alexis Hoh Le Xin (left) and Nikita Mae Jing-Yu Meyers (right) – shared the significance of each day of the 15-day celebration. To engage the student-athletes, they ended off with Kahoot! quiz and rewarded the top 10 winners.
No Chinese New Year celebration in Sports School is complete without our very own Fortune God! He truly knew how to make a grand appearance and excite the audience :)
Hello ROAR! ROAR joined staff and student-athletes on stage to sing festive songs.

Meet and greet the stars of the show!
The programme ended at The Arena, where student-athletes enjoyed a celebratory lunch. Another special guest came by to greet our student-athletes!
