Young Footballer Loo Kai Sheng Receives Inaugural Overseas Scholarship
Unleash The Roar! Overseas Scholarship
Loo Kai Sheng, a talented Secondary 4 footballer, has achieved a significant milestone in his dream of becoming a professional footballer. His dedication to the sport and exceptional talent has earned him the inaugural overseas scholarship under the Unleash The Roar (UTR)! national project.
Kai Sheng’s burning passion for football was evident since he was young as he enjoyed kicking the ball at every instance that he got. His teacher from the Xishan Primary School saw his interest in the sport and encouraged him to go for trials at Singapore Sports School. His talent on the pitch did not go unnoticed. In June 2022, he was called up to play for the Singapore national Under-16 team.
Under the UTR overseas scholarship, Kai Sheng will have the opportunity to spend one year at ESC LaLiga & NBA Academy in Madrid. The scholarship will cover his key expenses, including his football programme, tuition, accommodation fees and insurance.
Kai Sheng was selected as one of the eight recipients after a four-month interview process that started with 40 shortlists.
The scholarship ceremony was graced by Mr Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, who emphasized UTR’s commitment to nurturing young talents and expanding the pool of footballers.
