The first of two “pin-tastic” performances by our bowlers was on showcase during the 54th Singapore International Open held from 25 May to 8 June 2024.
Darius See saw out an intense battle for the top spot in the Under-16 Boys' Step Ladder. He won his first game by 3 pinfalls, totalling 169 pinfalls to 166 by his opponent. Darius then kept his cool and played to his strength to win the second game by 13 pinfalls with a score of 213 to 200 pinfalls.
In the Under-18 Girls' Step Ladder, Shannen Ong Yuan Lin eased her way in the final match with a score of 205 to 186 pinfalls. Jerlyn Lam Si Ting also topped the podium in the Youth Girls' Step Ladder event winning her match with a score of 217 to 198 pinfalls.
Post-secondary student-athlete Colleen Pee stole the limelight in the Women’s Open Step Ladder. Colleen went up against alumna Bernice Lim Hui Ying and admirably rose to the challenge against her senior. Colleen won the first match by 222 pinfalls to 201 and cemented her victory in the second game with a final score of 172 pinfalls to 159.

23rd Asian Junior Tenpin Bowling Championships
Nura Salsabila Zulkifli’s stellar form at the lanes continues as she placed first in the Girls’ Singles event. Nura struck 1395 pinfalls after 6 games, 73 pinfalls ahead of her 2nd-place opponent. Nura also teamed up with alumna Ashley Victora Lok and two other Team Singapore bowlers in the Girls’ Team event and the quartet secured 2nd place with a total of 2364 pinfalls in 3 games, just 17 pins shy of their 1st place opponents.
In the Boys’ Singles, Mark Leong Yew Chen edged his competitors with 1321 pinfalls after 6 games to claim 1st place. Mark added another bronze medal in the Boys’ All Events category. Joshua Gaza Soo Chak Kuen teamed up with another Team Singapore bowler for another gold medal in the Boys’ Doubles category. The duo struck 2585 pinfalls after 6 games to cement their position at the top of the group. Alumna Ashley Victoria Lok splashed 443 bowling pins in the Girls’ Stepladder Finals and Hazel Tan joined her at the podium in 2nd place with 374 pinfalls.
All our bowlers’ amazing efforts pushed Team Singapore to the top of the competition, sweeping 1st place in the Girls, Boys’ and Overall medal tally categories. Super effort, bowlers!
