Shuttlers Racket Up Wins During June Break
East Badminton Academy Age Group Series 2024, SMU Shuttlers Challenge 2024

The SMU Shuttlers Challenge 2024, held from 3 to 9 June 2024, saw incredible performances from our shuttlers. In particular, Secondary 1 shuttlers Bonita Bai Hanqian and Chara Loo Kit Rei emerged champions in the Under-15 Girls’ Doubles after a gripping rubber match against their opponents. Meanwhile, senior shuttlers Tai Jong Waa and Edmund Tan Xuan De displayed their tenacity as they defeated their first-seed opponents to clinch 1st place in the Under-17 Boys’ Doubles event. After an intense hour-long match, ace shuttler Chua Min Han also bagged a gold medal in the Under-19 Boys’ Singles.
Julian Tan, Daryl Leong, Aldrich Goh, Jeanna Low, and Sherayne Ong also put up impeccable performances to claim 2nd place in their respective events.
Next on the calendar was the East Badminton Academy Age Group Series 2024 held from 18 to 23 June, where our shuttlers claimed a whopping 15 medals in nine categories.
Our boys’ doubles pairs displayed their grit and resilience as they smashed their way to victory. New partners Edmund Tan Xuan De and Tan Wei Da impressively secured the top place in the Under-17 Boys’ Doubles, while senior shuttler Axel Ng Li Wei emerged champion in the Under-19 Boys’ Doubles event with partner Clarence Teh. Despite losing the second set in the Under-17 Boys’ Singles finals, Tee Kai Ze made a triumphant comeback in the final set to secure a victory.
Young shuttlers Jessie Batchelor, Maegan Tan Yee Kah, Ong Jun Hao, and Julian Tan Yi Kai also put their best plays forward to take the silver in their respective events.
