Venturing Out Of The Classrooms And Into The Outdoors!
Outward Bound Singapore
Between 15 to 31 May 2023, our Secondary 1, 2 and 3 student-athletes left behind their airy classrooms and readily available toilets, to go on a 3 to 5-day camp at Outward Bound Singapore. To further enhance their out-of-comfort zone experiences, they were grouped with student-athletes from other academies and were introduced to many different challenges throughout the camp.
They had to learn to adjust to new group dynamics quickly during the camp as group and individual tasks came streaming in. Activities such as scaling high elements tested their confidence and teamwork. They also braved the waters and encouraged each other during a kayaking expedition. They discovered how to leverage their own strengths and that of others in their own teams.
When their mentors dropped by to visit them on their second last day of the camps, they were busy preparing to cook dinner for other groups. They could be seen dividing tasks, discussing on the dishes to prepare, and managed their time well. The Outward Bound experience has helped them fortify their character and resilience while enhancing their teamwork and respect for each other.
