The 28th Baker’s Cottage SEA Youth Table Tennis Championships 2024, held in Kuala Lumpur from 12 to 16 May 2024, witnessed extraordinary performances by our paddlers. 11 student-athletes from Singapore Sports School formed a dominating force in the 17-strong Team Singapore contingent. Out of the 13 medals won by Team Singapore, a staggering 12 were brought home by them, including all four gold medals.

Leading the charge was rising star Loy Ming Ying, whose skills at the table were nothing short of spectacular. Ming Ying clinched three gold medals, including the Under-15 Girls’ Doubles with schoolmate Janelle Chiang Rui En and Under-19 Mixed Doubles alongside her brother Loy Xing Yao. Ming Ying’s winning streak continued in the Under-15 Girls’ Team event, where she secured yet another gold medal with Janelle and teammates Chong Zi Sian and Giselle Chin.

The Under-19 Girls’ Team, featuring Ser Lin Qian, Chloe Lai Neng Huen, Joeunn Seow, and teammate Tan Zhao Yun, added another gold to Team Singapore’s tally. Their coordinated effort and determination were pivotal in outplaying their opponents and clinching the top spot.

Not to be outdone, the boys also showcased their exceptional skills. Nicholas Tan excelled in the Under-19 Boys’ Singles and Mixed Doubles, earning a silver medal each after a series of intense matches. Meanwhile, Loy Xing Yao, clinched 3 bronze medals in the Under-19 Boys’ Singles, Doubles and Team event in addition to his Mixed Doubles gold medal, while Yang Ze Yi clinched 2 bronze medals in the Under-19 Boys’ Singles and Team event.
