Student Leaders’ Investiture Ceremony 2024


At the Student Leaders’ Investiture on 20 May 2024, 150 student-athletes assumed their leadership roles. Janelle Yeo Rui En (Artistic Swimming, IBDP Year 5) was inaugurated as the President of the 21st Student Council, accompanied by Vice-Presidents Jayden Ng (Track and Field, Secondary 4) and Magdalene Lee (Swimming, Secondary 4). The hand-over ceremony was honoured by the presence of Guest-of-Honour Koh Hin Ann, former President of the Student Council in 2007, with parents, staff, student leaders from secondary schools and fellow student-athletes in attendance to witness the event.

In her address, Hin Ann encouraged the incoming student leaders to embrace the responsibility bestowed upon them, emphasising their potential to inspire peers and enact positive changes within the school community.

She said, “All of you here were selected because you have that potential to lead your peers. Take pride in this gift of leadership position, for it gives you a chance to inspire your school mates and effect changes you think are necessary and beneficial to the school.”

Embarking on her new leadership journey, incoming President Janelle expressed profound gratitude. Thanking the outgoing batch of student leaders for their dedication and service, Janelle articulated her readiness to assume responsibility and effect change.

She said, “Being a leader is not about being in charge. It's about taking care of those in our charge. Therefore, my “why” is to make the school a more compassionate and inclusive community where every student-athlete will thrive and grow.”

The ceremony culminated with the symbolic passing of the flame and the recitation of student leader pledge, led by Janelle. The passing of flame symbolises the transition of the leadership team, the passion for their service to the School, and the bonds of friendships with one another.
