51 Student-Athletes Receive 51st SSSC Colours Award

51st Singapore Schools Sports Council (SSSC) Colours Award

51 Singapore Schools Sports Council (SSSC) Colours Award winners will be recognised during Graduation Ceremony on 11 November – they comprise one Best Sportsboy, one Best Sportsgirl, four Colours Award (Distinction) and 45 Colours Award winners.

2021 is a memorable year for Best Sportsboy Eng Wei Jin, a golfer on the extended IBDP. Wei Jin, who is in the national development squad, was crowned the National School Games (NSG) ‘A’ Division Boys Champion on 20 April 2021. He also mounted the podium at two other National Ranking Games, a competition that provides top players with the opportunity to prove themselves and up their world rankings.

Best Sportsgirl Low Yu Yenn is a Secondary 4 student-athlete who took the 2021 NSG title in the Gymnastics (Rhythmic) National ‘B’ Division Girls (Individual - All Around) event. She has her mind set on representing Singapore at the upcoming 31st Southeast (SEA) Games. Yu Yenn manages her time well so that she can cope with the intensive training and her academic workload. Although she has a quiet personality, she is a good influence for her peers and juniors because of her sense of responsibility and determination.

Wei Jin, who has put in a lot of hard work prior to the NSG, is happy and honoured to receive the Best Sportsboy award. He thanked the school staff who have guided him throughout his Sports School journey. “My achievements this year have given me more confidence in my game which would definitely help me in achieving the goals that I have set for myself,” shared Wei Jin.

Yu Yenn is just as honoured to receive the Best Sportsgirl Award, which is a huge motivation for her to continue to pursue excellence in gymnastics and bring glory to the school and country. “The past year has not been easy due to the many restrictions put in place that have affected training and created much uncertainty. Nonetheless, I am thankful to my coaches, parents and friends who have supported me whole-heartedly,” said Yu Yenn.
