On 21 and 22 October 2023, the senior fencers participated in the Singapore Senior Trial (Epee & Foil) event, held at the OCBC Arena Hall.
With fencing rising rapidly in popularity and skill in Singapore, our fencers had fought through tough competition in their respective events, bringing back medals from the competition.
Epeeist Si To Jian Tong defeated fellow national fencer Samson Lee with a score of 15-11 in the finals, securing the gold medal in the end. Azfar Luqman Ong also performed well to work his way to the podium, ultimately losing to Jian Tong and claiming joint-bronze in the Men’s Epee event.
Foilist Cheung Kemei powered through the Women’s Foil event to secure the gold medal, defeating her opponent in the finals with a score of 15-12.
Epeeist Esther Tan also fought well against various tough opponents in the Women’s Epee event. She was ultimately unable to defeat her opponent to advance to second place, thus settling for a joint bronze medal.
