Education Minister At Sports School

Singapore Sports School welcomed Education Minister Chan Chun Sing on 23 September 2021 for an engagement session with staff and student-athletes. While this was his first visit since he became the Minister for Education, this was his second visit to the school. He last visited Sports School in 2011.

The visit kicked off at the National Youth Sports Institute (NYSI) where he learnt more about NYSI’s role in supporting youth athletes in the school and nationally. Minister then had a 40-min dialogue session with 17 student-athletes from the Secondary, International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and Polytechnic Diploma programmes. He also had the opportunity to visit facilities such as the Badminton Hall, Fencing Hall and Shooting Range to observe Polytechnic student-athletes at training. 

The visit concluded with an engaging dialogue session with staff from the Sports School and NYSI to gather feedback and understand concerns. Minister shared his views and experiences candidly with staff, and addressed issues that were raised.
