10 Of The Best Honoured With Best Sportsboy and Best Sportsgirl Award
10 Of The Best Honoured With Best Sportsboy and Best Sportsgirl Award
53rd Singapore Schools Sports Council (SSSC) Colours Award
“I’ve never dreamt of this, and I feel so honoured to be named Best Sportsgirl for Bowling. This incredible achievement is a testament to the unwavering support and guidance from my coaches. It is also a reminder to me that any endeavour requires not just my individual skill and determination, but also invaluable guidance and encouragement from coaches, teammates, and my family. I am humbled and grateful for this recognition. I am excited to continue pushing the boundaries of my abilities and strive for excellence. Thank you to all my teammates and coaches for being there for me and helping me through challenging times. I have more to improve on and it does not stop here,” said Secondary 4 student-athlete Lim Shi En.
“I am very honoured and happy to win the Best Sportsgirl Award for Golf this year. It is the highest award in school sports. I value every award as that is a testament to all the sacrifices and hard work that I have put into achieving the results. I think the mindset that I was competing with myself and trying to achieve the targets that I set led to my success during the NSG. This allowed me to focus on my game rather than on how well my opponents were playing, thus I did not falter as much when my playing partners were playing well because I was competing with my own expectations. Hence, this mindset helped me to maintain calm and clinch first in the NSG,” added IBDP Year 6 Golfer, Jaymie Ng Wan Xin
Shi En, Jaymie and 8 other top-performing student-athletes from Singapore Sports School were among 55 students from 20 schools who were honoured with the Singapore Schools Sports Council Colours Best Sportsboy or Best Sportsgirl Award for their outstanding achievements and character in local and overseas competitions from 1 September 2022 to 31 August 2023.
They received the pinnacle award from Guest-of-Honour, Sports School alumna and Track and Field national athlete, Veronica Shanti Pereira on 22 September 2023 at CHIJ St. Theresa's Convent. The awards ceremony also marked the closing of the National School Games which took place from January to August 2023.
Heartiest congratulations to all our 10 recipients!
