Swimming Academy, Secondary 2
On 8 September 2023, the Swimming Academy ventured out for a meaningful Values In Action (VIA) project known as Rent-A-Craft, Pay-By-Trash. As part of the activity, we had to kayak to collect trash.
We met up at Passion Wave @ Marina Bay to clean the Kallang River where we first had a short introduction on the reasons why the campaign was started, the harmful effects of litter in the water, locations where litter may be collected, and a safety briefing. The activity was fun as we had the opportunity to kayak with friends, while doing our part to clean up our waterways.
It was especially fulfilling when we realised that our team of 32 swimmers, coaches and staff collected a total of 23.15kg worth of trash! This was a meaningful and exciting experience. We look forward to participating next year!
