Badminton Alumni Shine At International Tournaments
Russian Open 2019 and IDBI Federal Life Insurance Hyderabad Open 2019
Singapore Sports School alumnus, Loh Kean Yew claimed silvers in the Men’s Single event at both the 2019 Russian Open and Hyderabad Open. His campaign began at the Russian Open held at Vladivostok, Russia from 16 to 21 July, where he battled against Indonesian opponent, Shesar Hiren Rhustavito. Kean Yew, the World No. 41, eventually settled for a silver with a score of 13-21, 17-21 on 20 July. Shifting his focus to the Hyderabad Open on 11 August, Kean Yew clinched silver after a strong fight against India's world No. 44 Sourabh Verma with a score of 13-21, 21-14, 16-21.
Alumna Tan Wei Han, together with compatriot Danny Bawa Chrisnanta, competed in the Russian Open mixed doubles event where they finished third after losing out to Russian opponents with a score of 13-21, 17-21 on 20 July.
20-year-old alumna Yeo Jia Min took on 17-year-old South Korean An Se Young at the Hyderabad Open Women's Single finals on 11 August and emerged champion with a score of 12-21, 21-17, 21-19.
