Be Right Back At National School Games
2020 National School Games: Opening Ceremony and Oath-Taking
The 2020 National School Games (NSG) was kicked off with the Opening Ceremony, graced by Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education, at the Singapore Sports Hub on 21 January 2020. Sports School student-athletes Zhou Jingyi (Table Tennis), Andrew George Medina (Track and Field) and Kimberly Ong Li Ling (Wushu) were among the 29 school athletes representing their respective sports at the Opening Ceremony. It was estimated that NSG 2020 will bring together about 60,000 student-athletes across 29 sports.
To commemorate the start of 2020 NSG, an oath-taking ceremony was held during the school assembly on 30 January. The values of sportsmanship, integrity, modesty and graciousness were reiterated before Kimberly and Football Academy Senior Coach Shahrin Shari led student- athletes and coaches to take their oaths respectively.
Since then, NSG 2020 has been temporarily suspended till March as a precautionary measure in light of the current COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019) situation. The NSG was planned to run from January to August 2020.
