Medals Galore At IVP Swimming Championships

Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic (IVP) Swimming Championships


Our post-secondary swimmers made a spectacular splash at the Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic (IVP) Swimming Championships, returning home with an impressive medal haul of 36 medals (14 gold, 14 silver, and 8 bronze). Held from 25 to 26 January 2025, the competition was a thrilling showcase of speed, skill, and determination.

Among the boys, Jerald Lium was the standout performer, dominating the pool and emerging as the most bemedalled swimmer, with a remarkable 7 medals over two days. Jerald’s haul included a medal of every colour in the individual events, along with 2 silver and 2 bronze medals in the relay events, an exceptional feat that truly showcased his versatility.

Ian Leong Wei Sheng and Brandon Yap also put up stellar performances. Ian claimed victory in the Men’s 200m Freestyle, while Brandon powered to the top spot in the Men’s 200m Butterfly, both securing first-place finishes in their respective events.

Among the female swimmers, Carol Rachmadi proved unbeatable in the Backstroke events, clinching gold in all three - the 50m, 100m, and 200m Backstroke events. Manda Low and Kayley Goh also made waves, with Manda capturing 2 golds in the Women’s 200m Butterfly and 400m Freestyle, while Kayley triumphed in the Women’s 100m Freestyle.

The relay teams were also a force to be reckoned with. The girls’ squad dominated the relay events, securing 3 gold medals in the 4x50m Freestyle, 4x100m Freestyle, and 4x100m Medley Relays. The Mixed Relay teams also claimed victory in the 4x50m Freestyle and Medley Relays, adding 2 more golds to the already impressive tally.
