Shuttlers’ Stellar Start To 2025

Badminton: Singapore Sports Hub National Open Championships


Singapore Sports School shuttlers got off to a winning start in 2025! They put up a stellar performance at the Singapore Sports Hub National Open Championships, held from 11 to 17 January 2025. The tournament saw our shuttlers secure an impressive haul of 7 medals, including 1 gold, 1 silver, and 5 bronze.

The Mixed Doubles event was particularly noteworthy, with our teams achieving a clean sweep of the podium. Nge Joo Jin and Heng Xiao En showcased their exceptional chemistry on court to clinch the gold medal. Elsa Lai Yi Ting and her partner secured the silver, while May Yoon San and her teammate rounded out the podium with a bronze medal performance.

In the Singles events, Marcus Phil Lau fought his way to a joint third-place finish in the Men's Singles, earning a bronze medal for his efforts. The Women's Singles saw Chia Xin Ying match this achievement, also securing a bronze medal.

The Doubles events further highlighted the depth of talent in Singapore's badminton ranks. In the Men's Doubles, Nge Joo Jin teamed up with Nicholas Kat Zi Shun to claim a joint third-place finish. The Women's Doubles pair of Elsa Lai Yi Ting and Heng Xiao En mirrored this success, also earning another bronze for the tally.

This impressive start to 2025 bodes well for the future of badminton in Singapore, with our athletes showing they can compete at the highest levels of national competition.
