A Golden Strike For Bowlers At NAG 2025
Bowling: National Age Group 2025
During the National Age Group 2025 held from 15 to 22 March 2025, our bowlers delivered outstanding performances, bringing home a stunning medal haul of 12 gold, 13 silver, and 10 bronze medals across multiple categories.
In the U16 Girls division, Nur Iffah Amberlynn Muhammad Zulhaidi put on a stellar performance, clinching gold in All-Events and Doubles, alongside Natalie Poh Jing Wen. She also secured silver in Singles, Team, and Masters, proving to be a formidable competitor in her category.
"I exceeded my expectations in this competition despite initial doubts about the challenging oiling pattern. By staying adaptable and making key adjustments, I found the right approach and am proud of my resilience. While my team didn’t achieve exactly what we hoped, our support and determination carried us to a strong second-place finish. Throughout the event, I focused on staying composed and maintaining a positive mindset, which helped me reset after setbacks. Looking ahead, I’m determined to improve my spare shooting, as one missed spare cost me the top spot. I’m committed to refining this area with my coaches," said Nur Iffah Amberlynn.
For the U16 Boys, Caedmon Lim emerged as a dominant force, securing gold in Singles, All-Events, Masters, and Team, with his teammates Kaelan Lim, Lucas Goh Seow Rui, and Darius See Zhi Yun also contributing to a strong showing. Lucas Goh Seow Rui added to the tally with gold in Masters and bronze in All-Events, while Kaelan Lim and Darius See Zhi Yun also claimed multiple podium finishes.
Reflecting on his win, Caedmon Lim shared, "My main goal for this competition was to qualify for the Masters event in both categories rather than focusing on the podium, as I knew I was up against strong competitors. However, I’m really proud of how my teammates and I supported each other, stayed positive, and made sure we enjoyed the team events.
I went in knowing I couldn’t out-bowl some of the top competitors, but I gave it my all. There were moments I felt like giving up, but realising how close the scores were motivated me to push harder—and that determination paid off with a podium finish."
In the U18 Girls division, Nur Irdina Hazly put up a remarkable fight, winning gold in All-Events, Masters, and Team, alongside Shannen Ong Yuan Lin, Hazel Tan Wei Ning, and Nura Salsabila Zulkifli. Rainie Kwek also stood out, clinching gold in Singles and bronze in Team and Doubles.
The U18 Boys also showcased immense skill, with Lucas Goh Seow Rui securing gold in Masters and Caedmon Lim once again proving his consistency with gold in All-Events and Team. Darius See Zhi Yun, Kang Hee Hiang, and Andre Chew Leong Joon also contributed with key podium finishes across various events.
Lucas, who had transferred from swimming to bowling, shared, “Winning always brings happiness, but for me, it was never about expectations—it was about focus, execution, and staying composed. Going into the U16 Masters, I had no specific goals other than keeping calm and making good shots. I told myself to stay in control, and I stuck to that mindset. As the games progressed, I didn’t overthink—just threw my shots, made my spares, and let the game unfold naturally. By the end of the event, exhaustion hit hard. Eight games took a toll, and I knew I had another eight waiting for me in the U18 Masters… Looking back, I’m beyond grateful for my coach’s guidance, for my parents’ unwavering support, and for the experience that tested both my mental and physical endurance. Winning felt amazing, but more than anything, I was proud of how I pushed through and stayed true to my game.”
Moving to the U21 Girls, Hazel Tan Wei Ning displayed exceptional prowess, winning gold in Singles and Team, silver in Doubles and Masters, and bronze in All-Events. Nur Irdina Hazly added to her already impressive medal count with gold in Masters, silver in Singles and All-Events, and gold in Team, alongside Lim Shi En and Jerlyn Lam Si Ting.
In the U21 Boys, Joshua Gaza Soo Chak Kuen secured a bronze in Masters, wrapping up a remarkable campaign for our bowlers at the competition. Excellent job, bowlers!
