Paddlers March Towards Podium Finishes

Table Tennis: National Grand Finale 2025, WTT Youth Contender Wladyslawowo, WTT Youth Contender Berlin, WTT Youth Contender Havirov 2025, STTA National Age Group Championships 2025

March was nothing short of spectacular for our paddlers, who dazzled on both local and international stages with podium finishes across multiple competitions. From dominating the National Grand Finale 2025 locally to making waves at the WTT Youth Contender Series in Wladyslawowo, Berlin, and Havirov, and capping it off with a stellar performance at the STTA National Age Group Championships 2025, our student-athletes proved their mettle and resilience.

After 12 days of fierce competition, the National Grand Finale 2025 culminated on 2 March 2025, showcasing thrilling matchups and outstanding displays of skill. In the Women’s Singles, post-secondary student-athlete Ser Lin Qian delivered a stellar performance to secure the championship title. The Men’s Singles final was an electrifying showdown between Izaac Quek and alumnus Koen Pang. With Izaac’s aggressive and strategic play, it led him to a 4-2 victory.

Our lower secondary girls, Arissa Cheng, Chevelle See, and Sonia Zainudeen, also displayed incredible teamwork and determination, battling their way to a well-earned bronze in the Women’s Team event. The Men’s Doubles final was another highlight, with alumnus Clarence Chew and his national teammate putting on a commanding performance to claim gold against Loy Xing Yao and Jayden Tan. Meanwhile, Jaryl Wong and Ellsworth Le showcased their resilience, each earning a joint-bronze medal with their respective partners in the Men’s Doubles.

The Women’s Doubles final was a battle to the wire, with Loy Ming Ying and Chloe Lai ultimately securing the silver medal after a valiant fight against alumna Zhang Wanling and her partner. Chevelle See and her partner also put up a stellar effort, capturing the bronze and adding to the team’s impressive medal haul.

One of the most heart-stopping moments of the tournament came in the Mixed Doubles final, where post-secondary duo Chloe Lai and Ellsworth Le staged an incredible comeback. Trailing 0-2, they showed unwavering grit and composure, clawing their way back to claim victory with a nail-biting 11-9, 11-8, 12-10 finish, securing the gold in a spectacular fashion.

WTT Youth Contender Series 2025 – Wladyslowowo, Berlin and Havirov, WTT Feeder Otocec 2025

The WTT Youth Contender 2025 in Wladyslawowo was a tournament of milestones for our student-athletes. Secondary 1 paddlers Chevelle See, Arissa Cheng, Isaiah Raphael Loh, and Zane Ong made their mark by winning their first-ever WTT medals since joining Sports School. Chevelle and Arissa dazzled with an incredible 1-2 finish in the U13 Girls’ Singles, while Isaiah and Zane battled their way to a joint-bronze each in the U13 Boys’ Singles. Matthew Ellis also joined the winners’ ranks, securing his first WTT medal with a bronze in the U19 Boys’ Singles.

The success continued with Tristen Yee and Sonia Zainudeen, who delivered a strong performance to finish joint-third in the U15 Mixed Doubles. Meanwhile, Loy Ming Ying displayed remarkable consistency, earning bronze in both the U17 and U19 Girls’ Singles events.

Our young paddlers kept the momentum going in Berlin and Havirov. Riding high on his joint-bronze finish in Wladyslawowo, Zane proved his consistency by clinching bronze once again in the U13 Boys’ Singles across Berlin and Havirov. Meanwhile, Arissa Cheng and Chevelle See continued to impress in the U13 Girls’ Singles event in Havirov, securing an outstanding 2-3 finish at the competition held from 10 to 16 March 2025.

Also in Europe, Izaac Quek and Koen Pang secured a runner-up finish at the WTT Feeder Otocec 2025, held from 25 to 29 March 2025. The duo dominated the earlier rounds and booked their spot in the final with a commanding 3-1 victory over their Korean opponents in the semi-finals. Facing another Korean pair in the final, they delivered a strong performance but ultimately finished in second place.

STTA National Age Group Championships 2025

Our paddlers’ resilience and dedication were on full display at the STTA National Age Group Championships 2025. At the competition held from 15 to 23 March 2025, Tristen Yee, Zane Ong and Benjamin Lau delivered a clean sweep in the U15 Boys’ Singles event, claiming a gold, silver and bronze medal respectively. Not to be outdone, Ellsworth Le, Nicholas Tan and Loy Xing Yao also put on a phenomenal display in the U19 Boys’ Singles to secure a medal of each colour.

Meanwhile, Rhiannon Tey showcased her tenacity and skill in the U19 Girls’ Singles, clinching a well-earned bronze medal after a series of hard-fought matches.
