Self-Discipline Key To Athlete’s Success
Lessons from the Champions – Isa Halim
Our student-athletes had the privilege of learning from Football Academy’s Head Coach, Isa Halim, a renowned figure with 60 caps for the Football National Team when he delivered his sharing during Lessons from the Champions on 10 March 2025.
Coach Isa's journey is a testament to perseverance and dedication, as he began his football career at the age of 15 and earned his first cap just 4 years later.
During his session, Coach Isa emphasised the importance of focusing on internal factors that student-athletes can control, such as effort, attitude, preparation, response, discipline, and belief. He encouraged them to channel their energy into these areas, rather than being swayed by external negativity. By doing so, they can unlock their full potential and perform at their best.
Coach Isa also highlighted the significance of nutrition for athletes, drawing from his recent coaching experience in Japan. He stressed the need for athletes to be mindful of their diet to maintain optimal physical health.
The session concluded with a powerful message: "If you don’t sacrifice for your goals, your goals become the sacrifice." This quote serves as a reminder to our student-athletes of the importance of commitment and hard work in achieving success.
We are grateful for Coach Isa's inspiring insights and look forward to seeing our student-athletes apply these valuable lessons in their own journeys.
