ROAR Awards Celebrate Exceptional Leadership and Generosity

ROAR Awards – October and November 2024

On 7 November 2024, four outstanding student-athletes received the final ROAR Awards for the year. They are Sanjena Vithal, Chyler Lim Feng Ting, Danial Hariz Rizal who shone at top campers for their dedication, leadership, and sportsmanship during the Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) Level Camps, as well as sport climber Janelle Phua Jing En who received the ROAR Award for her generosity care for her peers.

Secondary 1 netballer Sanjena Vithal displayed strong leadership at the Secondary 1 OBS Camp. Her ability to organise group tasks and handle challenges with adaptability made her a standout leader. Sanjena’s peers held her in high regard, especially during group reflections, where her insights and encouragement fostered a positive environment. Her leadership and reliability have set a strong example for others to follow.

At the Secondary 2 Camp, Chyler Lim’s natural leadership qualities shone through. Her unwavering sense of right and wrong motivated her team to stay on track and work together effectively. Chyler’s reliability, teamwork, and independence have left an indelible mark on her peers, who admire her strength and moral clarity. Her presence provided a steady foundation for her team, and her influence will continue to resonate.

During the Secondary 3 Camp, pencak silat exponent Danial Hariz demonstrated inspiring growth as a leader. Initially hesitant, he embraced challenges with courage, becoming an active and engaged participant. His adaptive thinking and teamwork cultivated a focused, collaborative atmosphere within his group. Danial’s empathy, particularly as a mediator, uplifted his peers and strengthened their bonds. His journey reflects the transformative power of commitment and resilience.

Sport climber Janelle Phua also received the ROAR Award for her generosity. Janelle won a prize in a Sport Climbing competition and chose to donate her prize of climbing equipment to the school’s Multi-Sport Academy. This selfless gesture enriches our climbing programme and highlights the importance of giving back to the community. Janelle’s commitment to sharing her success with others reflects her deep sense of responsibility and care for her fellow students.

Sanjena, Chyler, Danial and Janelle exemplify the spirit of the ROAR award, embodying values that enrich themselves, their peers and the school community.
