SEA Championships 2024


Singapore's women's table tennis team made history in Nonthaburi, Thailand, reclaiming the Southeast Asian (SEA) Championships title after a decade-long wait. The team which included current student-athletes Ser Lin Qian and Loy Ming Ying, alumna Zhang Wanling and teammates Tan Zhao Yun and Zeng Jian delivered a stunning 3-2 victory over defending champions Thailand in a nail-biting final.

This win marks their first championship title since 2014, having fallen just short in 2016 and 2022 as runners-up. The team's resilience and determination paid off in the intense showdown, as they battled back against the hosts to clinch the gold.

Diploma in Business Studies student-athlete Ser Lin Qian was the standout performer as she helped Singapore secure crucial victories. Her stellar performance included claiming two valuable points for the team, with her match-winning point proving pivotal in the competition.

The men’s team, comprising current student-athletes Nicholas Tan, Yang Ze Yi, Ellsworth Le, Jaryl Wong, and teammate Josh Chua, secured a commendable joint-3rd place finish. Despite their strong efforts, they were narrowly defeated 1-3 in the semi-finals by Thailand.

Nicholas and Ze Yi went on to claim bronze in the Men’s Doubles event. Nicholas also paired up with teammate Zhao Yun to take another bronze in Mixed Doubles. Nicholas ended his SEA Championships debut with an impressive 3 bronze medals.

WTT Finals Fukuoka 2024


Singapore’s table tennis stars and current student-athletes, Izaac Quek and Koen Pang, had many reasons to celebrate their participation and performance at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Finals 2024. The men’s doubles duo rose to a career-high World No.10 ranking and qualified for the WTT Finals from 20 to 24 November 2024, held in Fukuoka, Japan. This is the second consecutive time that the duo has qualified for the WTT Finals, which is a remarkable achievement.

At the competition, they achieved a historic victory against the world’s top-ranked men’s doubles pair from China. In a stunning quarter-final match, the duo shocked the defending champions with a 3-0 clean-sweep victory. Their fearless and precise gameplay left the crowd in awe, marking a monumental milestone in their sporting careers.

Fresh off their quarter-final triumph, Izaac and Koen advanced to the semi-finals to face Japan’s world No. 6 pair, Hiroto Shinozuka and Shunsuke Togami. The Singaporean paddlers started with remarkable momentum, taking the first set after surging to a 6-0 lead.

Despite their strong start, they were unable to replicate their giant-slaying feat, with the Japanese pair eventually claiming a 3-1 victory. Nonetheless, the match was a testament to Izaac and Koen’s skill, determination, and fighting spirit against some of the world’s best.

World Youth Table Tennis Championships


Loy Ming Ying achieved the only medal for Singapore at the ITTF World Youth Championships from 25 November to 2 December 2024. She won a bronze medal in Under-15 Mixed Doubles event with Noah Vitel of France. Ming Ying also participated in the Girls’ Singles event but was beaten by Germany’s Koharu Itagaki. Ser Lian Qian and Izaac Quek also represented Singapore in the competition.

SAFRA Table Tennis Championship 2024


The SAFRA Table Tennis Championship 2024, held from 31 October to 10 November 2024, witnessed exhilarating action. In the Women’s Open Team event, the formidable quartet of Janelle Chiang, Rhiannon Tey, Joeunn Seow, and Sie Lay Yin emerged victorious, claiming the championship title. Their outstanding teamwork, skill, and determination set them apart, securing them the top spot in a fiercely contested competition.

Dr Lee Bee Wah Cup 2024


From 16 to 24 November 2024, our paddlers shone at the Dr Lee Bee Wah Cup 2024, where the nation’s brightest young talents showcased their skill, determination, and sportsmanship. This annual competition once again highlighted the depth of talent and dedication among Singapore’s student-athletes.

The Under-15 Boys’ Singles event was a stunning display of dominance by Singapore’s rising stars, with a clean podium sweep. Tristen Yee Rui Bing clinched the top spot, followed by Benaiah Seah Shih Luck in 2nd place and Benjamin Lau Yi Yuan rounding off the podium in 3rd place.

In the Under-19 Girls’ event, Rhiannon Tey Yu Qian emerged victorious, showcasing remarkable focus and technique.

Meanwhile, in the Under-19 Boys’ event, Matthew Ellis outshone the competition to take first place. His composure and strategic gameplay were pivotal to his success, earning him well-deserved recognition as a top talent in the sport.
